This is my favorite thing my mom makes and I always request it if she asks what to make when we come. I also make it myself, but somehow when she makes it, it tastes better. Why is that? Anyhow, the sauce freezes great and the meatballs freeze great. You could also add some Italian sausage to the mix.
Mom’s Spaghetti & Meatballs
2 large cans tomato puree
1 tsp. garlic powder
6-8 large bay leaves
2 lbs. meatballs/Italian sausage
-Place all ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on low 8 hours. Add water after hot to desired consistency. Remove bay leaves before serving.
-Serve over spaghetti pasta with Parmesan cheese.
-Can add diced tomatoes and/or mushrooms as desired.
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 Tbs Parmesan cheese
2 Tbs Italian seasoned bread crumbs
-Combine all ingredients and form into meatballs. Place on foil covered baking sheet. Bake in 400 F oven about 25-30 minutes until browned. Remove from pan to paper towel covered plate to absorb grease.
*If making 4-5 lbs of meat at one time: after cooking & cooled, divide into Ziploc bags for freezing.
